Fed: Value of construction up 4.9 p/c in Dec: ABS

CANBERRA, Feb 25 AAP - The building sector is continuing to grow with the value of
construction work up 4.9 per cent in the December quarter, official figures released today
show.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics said the value of total construction work hit $18.3
billion in the quarter.

The value of residential building work climbed 3.3 per cent to $8.03 billion, while
non-residential work climbed 6.1 per cent to $3.90 billion.

It was the second highest level of residential building on record, pushed along by
a record $1.28 billion …
