Qld: Queensland Magistrates Court to say sorry

Queensland magistrates courts will tomorrow apologise to Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islanders for past wrongs.

The ceremony will be conducted simultaneously in Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville, Rockhampton,
Southport and Mt Isa magistrates courts at 3pm (AEST).

Chief Stipendiary Magistrate DIANE FINGLETON and Magistrate BRIAN HINE will conduct
the Brisbane ceremony, presenting a deed of apology and commitment to local Aboriginal
elders.

In June, Victorian chief magistrate MICHAEL ADAMS, QC, presented a formal apology to
Aboriginal people in that state.
